Rescued vegetables loaded for delivery across Bristol
Second Harvest is a registered charity in England and Wales. We collect surplus food from Bristol supermarkets and farms and deliver it to community kitchens, schools and food banks across the city.

Why we started
Bristol throws away food while neighbours go without. We exist to close that gap.
Second Harvest Food Rescue is a registered charity in England and Wales. Every week we collect surplus food from supermarkets and farms across Bristol — food that is still good to eat but would otherwise go to landfill — and deliver it to the community kitchens, schools and food banks that need it.
We run from our warehouse in St Philips, open Monday to Saturday, 8am to 4pm. Since 2019 we've rescued over 1,200,000 meals' worth of food, with volunteers doing the sorting, loading and driving. No experience needed — just people willing to turn surplus into something that feeds the city.
Our values
Three things guide every collection, every delivery, every shift.
We collect surplus food from Bristol supermarkets and farms before it reaches landfill.
We deliver straight to the community kitchens, schools and food banks that cook it into meals.
Volunteers sort, load and drive every delivery — no experience needed, just willing hands.
Local businesses donate surplus stock and support our work across the city.
Every donation keeps the vans running and food moving across Bristol.
Get involved
